Public Invited to Open House to Discuss the Future of Downtown Webster City

“What can make downtown Webster City better?” residents will be asked by the City of Webster City and University of Iowa students at an open house Monday, November 12, at Fuller Hall Recreation Center. The City of Webster City is gathering public input on the future of Webster City’s downtown for the strategic plan to guide future programs. University of Iowa graduate students in the School of Urban and Regional Planning are collaborating with the city to help develop the downtown strategic plan.

The open house will feature information about the planning process as well as opportunities for the public to offer feedback on the current state of downtown Webster City. Participants can offer their thoughts on the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for downtown, ask questions, and give input. University of Iowa students will be on hand to speak with residents and answer questions.

The downtown strategic plan will provide general guidance on land use, housing, business mix, capital facilities, and other community topics regarding downtown Webster City.

The open house is made possible through the collaboration between the City of Webster City and the University of Iowa’s Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities (IISC) program. Through IISC, graduate students in the School of Urban and Regional Planning will assist the County in the development of two plans, the downtown strategic plan over the course of the academic year.

Webster City Open House:  7 -8:30 pm

Sampson room of Fuller Hall Recreation Center, 625 Bank Street, Webster City, Iowa.

Maps of Webster City will be available, along with boards for the community to give their input.  Webster City residents are encouraged to attend, and the planning team will be available to answer questions.
