We're Seeking Our Next IISC Partner

The Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities (IISC) Request for Proposals is now open!

The Office of Outreach and Engagement is seeking an IISC community partner for the 2019-20 academic year.

The magnitude and depth of an IISC partnership make it unlike any other resource or service we offer. The community chosen as an IISC partner will identify multiple projects to be completed over the course of one academic year. Our office brings together faculty, staff, and students from across campus to complete a range of 10-20 projects. More than 100 students will work directly with individuals and groups in the community, contributing more than 10,000 hours of work. Whereas some partnerships might consist of single project, IISC partnerships tackle many projects at one time.

Focusing concurrent projects in one geographic area result in a profound, transformative impact, not only because of the number and quality of projects, but also because citizens coalesce around a shared vision and shared goals in order to make the partnership successful. Building sustainable communities requires a collaborative spirit and desire to partner with various populations within your community, including local governments, non-profit organizations, local businesses, and educational institutions. We believe these connections are the heart of this work.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until February 1st, 2019. Two conference calls are scheduled in December and January for communities to learn more about the program and application process. We encourage you to contact us if you are considering a partnership in your community!
