Experience the Work of Grant Wood Fellow Joe Osheroff

Joe Osheroff, Grant Wood Fellow
Joe Osheroff, the current Grant Wood Fellow in Interdisciplinary Performance, brings a new face to the Grant Wood Art Colony as well as to many students. An actor and director, Osheroff’s passion lies in mask making. The University of Iowa Museum of Art will host him on February 12 for his presentation, The Progressive Mask: Exploring the Future of Mask Work in the American Theater." This lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in Art Building West and is free and open to the public.

As the Artistic Director of Homunculus Mask Theater (New York, NY), Joe Osheroff founded the company in 2010 to present original, devised theater that explores contemporary mask work. Community members will be able to experience his work on April 6 and 7 during performances of Visual Mixtape at the Department of Theatre Arts, Theatre Building, Theatre B. Visual Mixtape is an original, ensemble-based mask show devised by the student cast during the rehearsal process. Visual Mixtape will combine stylized movement, music, puppets, and an arsenal of original contemporary theatrical masks into a seamless pastiche of nonverbal, visual storytelling.
